Vandiver Leaving Wyoming

April 6, 2010

The Casper Star Tribune is reporting Wyoming assistant basketball coach Shaun Vandiver is leaving the program for Boise State. Vandiver has been with the team for 6 years and first came to UW under former coach Steve McClain. We don’t know the circumstances of his departure but I find it odd he would leave the Pokes for a team in the WAC. Chances are he doesn’t believe Schroyer can turn the team around and is taking a new job with some stability. It will be very interesting to see what type of coach Heath brings in. His staff is short on seasoned D-1 assistants, it would be nice to see a fresh face who could bring some new ideas to the program. It would also be nice to see a coach who could actually coach defense, giving up 70 plus points a game isn’t quite good enough.
